Postponed Wedding Blog Series: Seasonal Florals

Marriage is about love and union. Let’s not forget why you are having this great celebration in the first place. You and your significant other get to spend the rest of your lives happily wed together, and one day this will all be part of the story you get to tell.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, many spring and summer weddings are being postponed with some now transitioning into fall and winter celebrations. Seasonal florals are something that you may need to take into consideration. If you and your partner originally chose a seasonal wedding color trend such as soft pastels do not panic! Any color can feel true to spring with the right tones and combination. We have the best floral designers at our sister company, Blooms by Essential Details, and they can help you make these changes possible!

Do not feel pressured to change your colors to match the season. However, there may be some substitutions and minor changes that need to be made. For example, peonies are a spring/summer flower but are out of season in the fall. Luckily, peonies can be substituted with garden roses which come in similar colors, look and fragrance. Some flowers cannot be substituted like sweet pea, spirea, or other spring/bulb type flowers. If your wedding was moved to the fall we have been substituting with dahlias and wildflowers.

Overall, even with the substitutions, we are able to keep the same feel/look for the wedding you and your partner originally planned. So if you are now planning your wedding in a completely different season don’t forget about your florals! Consult your vendor and discuss your options. Below is a handy list of wedding flower availability and colors by season.
