Tears and Cheers: Reflecting on the Big Day
Reflections from the Bride:
"I woke up Saturday, May 28, 2016 with nerves and excitement as to what this day will hold. Surrounded by my bridesmaids, my mom and Tommy’s mom, we enjoyed getting pampered by our amazing hair stylists and make-up artist. My mom surprised me with an emotional book and framed poem and artwork that my sister-in-law had created. The tears were definitely flowing in our bridal suite from all! Tommy and I exchanged our gifts and he really had outdone himself! He had 10 gifts (which his mother beautifully wrapped & labeled) with items that I may need during the day, on our honeymoon or simply about our relationship. It was so creative and well-thought out!
The day went so fast and before I knew it, we were taking family photos and bridesmaids photos and on the trolley ”going to the chapel,” St. Boniface Catholic Church. The 45 minute wait before the ceremony was probably the longest 45 minutes of my life. My sweet soon-to-be-hubby swung by the gas station before the ceremony to grab me a bottle of water because he had heard I was thirsty. As I walked down the aisle, I couldn’t wait to see Tommy at the front of the church so I could hold his hand and finally say “I do” to my best friend.
After the ceremony, we enjoyed getting pictures with our large wedding party at Louisville Metro Hall. The overcast sky after the ceremony was perfect for our photographer, Krystal Mitchell with Ginger Snaps Photography. Our reception at the Henry Clay Beaux Ballroom was everything I had imagined. With the wood floors, stained glass ceiling, beautiful centerpieces and tablescapes, it was exactly what I had always envisioned! Tommy and I quickly ate our delicious meal from Wiltshire Pantry before making our rounds to thank our guests for coming to celebrate us. We listened to some great toasts, danced the night away with friends and family and even made a quick appearance at 8UP to visit with the “after-party guests” before our early flight to Jamaica in the morning.
Everything about our wedding day was perfect! It couldn’t have run smoothly without the lovely ladies at Essential Details, Sheryl Thompson & Allyson Nestor, making sure things ran according to plan and even fixing Tommy’s boutonniere when he got a little out of hand with groomsmen photos. The support our parents have shown us over the years is immeasurable and I can’t thank my parents enough for making my dream wedding become a reality. Some parts seem like a blur but it was honestly the best day of my life, surrounded by so many people that care about and love us." -Devanny Boisvert
